Workplace health and safety
Our HSE strategy
The health and safety of our work environments – for our people and our clients, subcontractors, suppliers, visitors and wider communities – is paramount to everything we do at UGLRL.
This starts with equipping our people with the skills, systems and processes they need to uphold best practice in all areas of delivery across the CRN.
It also means creating a culture where individuals are encouraged to take personal responsibility, feel empowered to speak up and are supported by teams that understand and believe in the central importance of health and safety.
We also encourage proactive, visible leadership, committed to creating and maintaining healthy and safe workplaces.
At UGLRL, this includes the mental and emotional health and wellbeing of our people and those we engage with, as much as it includes safety in design and delivery.
Our HSE Strategy is focused on four key areas:
- Risk Management: Our teams develop deep understanding of HSE risks for their areas of operations and develop controls which are implemented to ensure safe delivery of work. This includes our critical risk controls which are reviewed for clarity, currency and effectiveness.
- Communication: We ensure that our safety communication is delivered consistently and in accordance with our One HSE Culture. Our leaders have personal safety action plans which they utilise to capture and display their commitment to continual improvement in safety.
- Involvement: Our leaders actively engage with their teams in the field and support the creation of psychologically safe environments through our healthy mind's strategy and peer support program.
- Standards: We communicate our requirements through clearly defined processes with outcomes aligned with our strategic safety priority.
